Course tiers

How undergraduate coursework is organized

Undergraduate study moves through three tiers. Each tier is listed by division with its course numbers and prerequisites.

Lower-division foundations

Introductory courses that establish core skills and satisfy the general education distribution requirements in each division.

Upper-division seminars

Advanced courses within a major that build on foundations and are listed with their prerequisite chains for every four-year path.

Experiential capstones

Culminating units completed in the final year of a major, with scheduling aligned to standard academic terms.

Requirements and transfer

Prerequisites, credit thresholds, and transfer recognition

Each course entry states its prerequisites and the minimum credit standing required to enroll. Prerequisites are mapped across all four-year major paths so students can plan a sequence before registering.

Credit earned elsewhere is recognized according to the standards published by the Office of the University Registrar. Confirm transfer eligibility with an academic advisor before planning a term.
